Where we are
Set on a 5.000 m2 plot of land, within the idylic Arrabida National Park, in Setúbal, Portugal, the Orange Bloom Homestead is an unpretentious spot to unwind, ground and enjoy.
We are only 30 minutes south of Lisbon airport, 5 minutes from the traditional village of Azeitão and about 20 minutes from beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters, home to dolphins and abundant marine life.
Plant Based Farm
At the Orange Bloom Homestead, we rely on plant-based nutrition as a health tool. We believe in sustainable living in a cruelty-free world and we encourage our guests to experiment with plant-based meals while staying with us.
Cat Home
Yin, Phoenix, and Shiva, our beloved cats, are an intricate part of our family and a constant presence at the Orange Bloom Homestead.
You will often find them snooping around, curious about everything that goes on at the homestead.
If you leave a door or window open, don’t be surprised to find one (or all) of them comfortably taking a nap in a hidden, or not-so-hidden, spot.
If you are allergic to cats the Orange Bloom Guesthouse may not be suitable for you.
This is Shiva, the latest member of our family. He showed up at our doorstep, before Christmas of 2022, not long after we said goodbye to our beloved Blue.
Shiva had a home, but in spite of various attempts to return him to his original owners, he always came back.
Various people told us that he chose us. If that was true, how could we possibly disappoint him?
Yin, our gorgeous “baby girl”, is the queen of the castle. Very determined, stubborn, and independent, she has her loving moments, but always, and only, on her own terms.
She has Luciana totally wrapped around her finger… or should we say, around her paw.
The two women of the house, Luciana and Yin, developed a strong bond, especially after Yin’s twin brother, Yang, passed away – a life-shaking experience for both.
Phoenix has an incredible, almost unbelievable, story, one to be told only in person, over a cup of coffee, or tea, and a slice of delicious homemade cake. But just for starters… one day, on a farm up on the hills in Palmela, where Luciana was taking a Healthy Eating & Food Transformation course, Phoenix ran to her feet in a cry for help, as soon as she reached her car. Frightened and famished, it did not take long before Phoenix was on Luciana’s lap, in the car, on the way to his new home. Little did we know what we were to discover about this little guy’s life… months later!
